Googling Your Way to Top Rankings

Almost everyone is interested in higher rankings on Google and with the amount of information out on the internet about SEO strategies it can be daunting even where to begin. In this article I will give you a couple simple but surprising strategies that will help your rankings.

Seems everyone has their own SEO (search engine optimization) techniques and theories. I mean companies hire SEO experts and agencies have entire SEO divisions.

That’s how competitive search rankings has become.

But how can we truly separate the wheat from the chaff?

Like anything else, we can get back to some basic fundamentals.

Two of the biggest factors that we need to be working that affect Google placement are: links and search words/phrases.

However, it used to be where you could get a link from almost anyone and your rankings would rise. Not so anymore. You need to focus on quality links.

That being said, Google tends to give weight to links from major companies, trade groups, government organizations and especially sites built on .edu domains.

So do your best to snag some .edu links. Keep in mind, the links must be *relevant*.

Secondly, you need to have the appropriate key word phrases on your site. After all, that IS how potential customers find you and your creative services.

You can use tools such as WordButler, WordTracker and even Google AdWords now has it’s own keyword tool but that will only get you half way there.

Often these popular keywords are not always the best.

A better strategy is to use Google Adwords (buying ads) to make sure your ad ranks highly THEN use Google Analytics to track which key words best convert into sales

Key note: the keywords that work for paid search *typically* work in organic search as well.
