Who Cares About Copywriting?

So who really cares about copywriting besides those actually making a living at it? For starters, YOU should.

I was interviewed by one of the brightest and up and coming copywriters in the business today. His name is Ben Settle. His site is: http://www.bensettle.com. Ben wanted to discuss how to better use design when copywriters are designing their marketing pieces.

We had a terrific conversation that covered the gamut of issues regarding copywriting and design. Of course the design is very important but the words are even more so. They really drive the tone or “voice” of the piece.

If you do not really know much about copywriting or copywriting principles I would get on a fast track to learning them.

Words can make the difference from people reading your articles to reading your web site copy to reading your email headline and on and on. Especially today if you do NOT get people’s attention you will lose them forever so you need to learn HOW to get attention in a productive way.

This is truly one skill I wished I learned (or was exposed to) a lot earlier in my career. I think it is THAT important. It can be daunting where to start but I would recommend Googling any of the names below and getting a few of their resources. Again, there is a plethora of online info out there on the web but there is nothing like a book that you can hold and refer to when needed.

Names: Gary Halbert, John Carlton, David Oglivy, John Caples, Dan Kennedy, Eugene Schwartz, Clayton Makepeace.

Copywriting is truly an art and one that I have come to appreciate more and more over the years. Get some of the resources above and start putting some of their time-tested principles to work for you and your business.

You’ll have one major benefit – a much fatter bank account.
